Boy, 10, shot in possible road-rage incident in the Cajon Pass
A 10-year-old boy riding in his mother’s vehicle through the Cajon Pass was seriously wounded by a bullet Thursday night in what California Highway Patrol investigators called a possible road-rage incident.
He was struck in the head, CHP officials said. Initial reports indicate the boy may have been grazed by the bullet, however he was listed in serious condition.
The family was traveling north on the 15 Freeway near Cleghorn Road when the shooting took place at around 9 p.m., officials said.
The mother pulled off of the freeway at Highway 138 and parked at near a McDonald’s and Chevron gas station, officials said. Paramedics took the boy to a hospital, where he was expected to fully recover.
There was at least one other passenger in the victim’s vehicle, but no one else was hurt.
CHP officers shut down a portion of the freeway for a short time for the investigation.
