It was smiles and high fives Saturday, Feb. 23, as Aliso Viejo Little League said “Play ball!” for its 28th year of baseball in the city.
The ceremonial first pitch was thrown by Kevin Schilling, manager of the 2018 Southern California Division 3 champion All-Star team from Aliso Viejo.
Fifty-one teams comprising 550 players will compete, including the league’s first all-girls team, the Indians, now in its second year. New this season is the league’s first Challenger team, the Angels, made up of 5-year-olds to 14-year-olds with disabilities.
