Man arrested in 2014 slaying in Westminster

SANTA ANA — A suspect in a killing in Westminster nearly five years ago has been arrested and made his first appearance in court Monday.

Roberto Rafael Saavedra Gallardo, who was arrested Friday, had his arraignment rescheduled for April 5 on a charge of special circumstances murder for financial gain that was filed in October 2016.

Gallardo is accused of killing 58-year-old Adrian Zapata, whose body was found in his apartment in the 15100 block of Brookhurst Street about 10:25 a.m. May 22, 2014, according to Westminster police.
