Motorcyclist throws a punch in Ortega Highway road-rage incident, ends up injured
A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday, March 27, when he threw a punch at a car and then — not paying enough attention to the road — failed to make a turn on Ortega Highway near the Candy Store, the California Highway Patrol said.
The incident happened about 4:50 p.m. on Highway 74, west of the Candy Store between Lake Elsinore and San Juan Capistrano.
According to the CHP, two motorcyclists were attempting to go around a silver sedan on the two-lane corridor when one of the riders threw a punch at the car for reasons that were unclear. The suspect missed a bend in the road while focusing on the vehicle, and his motorcycle overturned, according to reports from the scene.
The sedan was not involved in the road rage and did not crash, the CHP said.
The CHP blocked both eastbound and westbound traffic while paramedics rendered treatment. The extent of the man’s injuries was not immediately clear.
Details about the second motorcyclist were not available.
