Fatal crash on the Ortega Highway in Orange County slows traffic
At least one person died in a crash on the Ortega Highway Monday morning, causing traffic backup on the major thoroughfare between Orange and Riverside counties.
The crash between two vehicles was reported at 5:39 a.m. on the highway near Caspers Wilderness Park, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Details about what led to the crash were not immediately available.
Some cars were able to drive on the right shoulder around the traffic incident.
According to the CHP, traffic was moving slowly on both eastbound and westbound sides. The crash area was expected to be cleared by 9 a.m., according to CHP.
