Man, woman found dead in apartment across from Newport Harbor High School

A man came home to his Newport Beach apartment Sunday night just before 9:30 p.m. and found his roommate and a woman he didn’t know dead, police spokeswoman Heather Rangel said.

He called police who responded to the complex, at 15th Street and Irvine Avenue.

Rangel did not have details about how the two died and said crime-scene investigators were working at the complex, which is across the street from Newport Harbor High School.

“We do know that the house was secure and there was no forced entry,” she said. “We don’t think there is a threat to society at this time.”
