What obstacles do Orange County’s unsheltered homeless face?
The 2019 point-in-time count asked people who weren’t in shelters about issues they deal with that may contribute to their homelessness.
Here is the data, which relied on sampling because not every unsheltered person completed a full survey. Some people may have noted more than one issue.
Chronic homelessness: 51.98 percent
Substance use issues: 32.9 percent
Physical disability: 30.8 percent
Mental health issues: 26.47 percent
Developmental disability: 13.72 percent
Domestic violence: 9.58 percent
HIV/AIDS: 1.8 percent
