Suspect in Anaheim weekend crime spree charged with robbery, assault, carjacking and evading arrest
A man suspected of carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon and robbery following a weekend crime spree in Anaheim faces eight felony allegations and was behind bars on Thursday, May 16.
Prosecutors filed charges against Jesus Valdovinos, including grand theft auto and evading a peace officer, court records show. The 31-year-old was arrested after a pursuit in Anaheim on Tuesday, May 14. He was suspected of stealing two cars and robbing two businesses between Sunday and Tuesday.

Valdovinosos allegedly stole a Ford Expedition on Sunday, then a Nissan Altima on Monday, Anaheim police said in a news release. Both vehicles were left unlocked with their motors running.
Police spotted the suspect behind the wheel of the Altima roughly 12 hours after it was stolen. He allegedly fled, occasionally driving into oncoming traffic at high speeds. Officers followed the suspect, but called off their pursuit after deciding that a prolonged chase would endanger the public, officials said.
Authorities believe Valdovinos robbed two stores on Tuesday, before police located him again at about 8:40 p.m., near the intersection of Palm Street and Guinida Lane. He refused to stop for officers, but drove into a dead-end street and was cornered, police said.
He was arrested Tuesday, then charged Thursday and held without bail, inmate records show.
