Nine people were arrested after police served a warrant at an illegal gambling operation in Buena Park Tuesday night, May 21.

Several gambling machines were seized from the storefront space at a strip mall at La Palma Avenue and Dale Street.

“We had been getting complaints of foot traffic coming and going from the business,” Buena Park Lt. Nghia Nguyen said.

After weeks of investigation, officers descended on the business at about 9 p.m. with the search warrant, Nguyen said.

The strip-mall displayed no business sign other than a small one on the door that said, “Chiropractic.” The windows were blacked out.

Inside, there were desktop computers and large table-top machines resting on the floor with flickering screens.

Police said Wednesday morning that the people running the operation were known to be armed so SWAT was called in to assist.

No was hurt.
