Man shot during robbery in Garden Grove
A man was shot after refusing to give his belongings to a robber Wednesday night, May 29, in a Garden Grove neighborhood of single-family homes.
Officers found the victim, a man in his 50s, at around 10:50 p.m. lying in the grass with a gunshot wound near McCains Street and Enloe Way, Garden Grove police said.
They began administering first aid to the man’s wound on his upper torso. The suspect had fled in a dark, box-style car, Sgt. Nick Jensen said.
Officers learned the suspect, who had a bandana covering his face, had brandished a gun at the victim and demanded his belongings.
“The victim refused to give up any of his property, at which time the victim was assaulted and suffered a gunshot wound,” police said in a statement.
The wounded Garden Grove man was taken to a hospital. His wounds were not considered life-threatening, police said.
Anyone with information about the case was asked to call Garden Grove police detectives at 714-741-5800.
