Woman dead after crash on 91 Freeway in Artesia

ARTESIA — A motorist was killed Wednesday when her Honda Crosstour crashed off the side of the eastbound 91 Freeway in Artesia, hit a tree and caught fire, authorities said.

The fiery crash occurred about 2 a.m. west of Pioneer Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the woman, who died at the scene.

The CHP reported that the motorist lost control of her 2010 crossover utility vehicle — why was unknown — and it veered off the freeway and slammed into the tree. She was alone in the vehicle.
