Powerful quake rattles Southern California on Friday night, second in 2 days; magnitude of 6.9, USGS says
A powerful earthquake shook Southern California on Friday night, the second significant quake in two days, officials said.
The quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.9, according the the U.S. Geological Survey’s early measurements.
The rolling quake, which could be felt throughout the region and lasted for several seconds, hit at 8:19 p.m. and was centered northeast of Ridgecrest, near where Thursday’s quake hit, according to the USGS.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
