Long Beach police arrest 3 in suspected illegal gambling bust in MacArthur Park neighborhood

Three people were arrested after a search warrant led to the discovery of illegal gambling machines, firearms and ammunition in the MacArthur Park neighborhood of Long Beach Friday night, July 19, authorities said.

About 9 p.m., Long Beach officers served a search warrant at a home in the 1400 block of Cherry Avenue and found a large group of people inside, Department spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

While conducting the search, officers found four large illegal gambling machines, four firearms, ammunition and about $2,000, De Prez said.

Police arrested 29-year-old Anh Ngo of Fountain Valley and 46-year-old Rouet Nay of Long Beach on suspicion of gambling stakes. They were booked into jail on $10,000 bail each, De Prez said.

Roland Amrikhas, 37, of Santa Ana, was arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was being held in jail on $35,000 bail.

It wasn’t immediately known what led to police obtaining the search warrant for the home.
