Shooting leaves one dead in Garden Grove

Police responding to reports of gunfire in Garden Grove found a man dead on Sunday, August 4, authorities said.

The shooting took place on the 9600 block of Westminster Avenue at about 12:47 p.m., Garden Grove police said in a statement. A man suffered at least one gunshot wound, and was found dead in the rear yard of a residence on the block.

Authorities were working to determine the man’s identity as of Sunday evening, police said.

Garden Grove police were investigating the shooting as a homicide. A description of any possible suspect was not immediately available.
