El Pollo Loco employee robbed at gunpoint in Garden Grove, makes off with cash
An El Pollo Loco employee was robbed at gunpoint Sunday night, Aug. 4, by a suspect who made off with cash, police said.
The robbery happened at around 9:45 p.m. when an employee who was preparing to close the restaurant was confronted by a man with a gun, said Sgt. Juan Delgado.
The man demanded money and the employee gave it over and left on foot, Delgado said.
Though it was immediately unknown how much money was taken from the establishment, in the 12900 block of Harbor Boulevard, authorities said it was a substantial amount.
The employee, Bacmy Nguyen, was not hurt during the robbery. He told a new videographer on scene that he was counting cash at the counter when the suspect entered the restaurant.
Nguyen said it was his second day on the job.
“It was a really scary moment,” he said. “I’m pretty shaken up.”
The suspect was described only as a Hispanic man, possibly in his 20s.
