Woman convicted of battery during 2017 Huntington Beach MAGA rally

by in News

WESTMINSTER — A 22-year-old Sacramento woman was convicted Wednesday, Aug. 14, of attacking a man during a rally in support of President Donald Trump at Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach.

Jessica Aguilar — who protested against the rally — was convicted of one count of misdemeanor battery. Aguilar had been charged with two misdemeanor counts of battery, but one of the those was dismissed July 10 of last year, according to court records.

About 2,000 people gathered for the “Make America Great Again” rally on March 25, 2017. The event drew some protesters and violence broke out.

Aguilar was accused of slapping one man and punching another man in the face, prosecutors said in June 2017.

Aguilar was immediately sentenced to 20 days in jail, but also 10 days of Caltrans work. It wasn’t immediately clear if the Caltrans work can be performed as an alternative to the jail time.

Messages left with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the defendant’s attorney, James Paul Segall-Gutierrez, were not immediately returned.
