Suspected stolen Maserati slams into Anaheim home with sleeping family inside
A Maserati that was possibly stolen collided with an SUV and slammed into an apartment with a family sleeping inside Monday night, Sept. 9, in Anaheim.
It was just after 11 p.m. when the SUV pulled out onto Acacia Street, near Canfield Street, into the path of the Maserati, causing the luxury vehicle to hit a bedroom in the home, Anaheim police Sgt. Steve Pena said.
It was immediately unclear which driver was at fault.
“There was a family sleeping inside,” Pena said. “Luckily, they were not injured in the collision.”
But the SUV’s driver was hospitalized with complaints of pain.
Firefighters at the scene decided the home could not be occupied because of the damage. Pena said the residents decided to stay with relatives who lived in the area.
Police are doing a criminal investigation as officers believe the black Maserati may have been stolen, police said. The driver was detained at the scene by officers.
Anyone who witnessed the crash was asked to call police at 714-765-1900.
