Santa Ana police officer hospitalized after patrol car and another vehicle collide

A patrol car driven by a Santa Ana police officer collided with another vehicle early Monday, with the officer taken to the hospital.

The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. at Civic Center Drive and Main Street, Santa Ana police Cmdr. M. Moreno said.

The officer was hospitalized with stable vital signs, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

The status of the other driver was unclear, but a news videographer at the scene said after the incident the driver of the other vehicle was sitting on a curb.
