Rider of motorcycle dies after collision with pickup truck in Huntington Beach
A man riding a motorcycle died after a collision with a pickup truck in Huntington Beach on Wednesday evening, authorities said.
At about 5:13 p.m., Huntington Beach police officers arrived to a frenzied scene at the intersection of Slater Avenue and Morgan Lane: a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado with severe damage to its left rear and axle, and crumpled beneath the truck’s left rear tire, a 2008 red Ducati motorcycle.
The rider of the motorcycle, a 31-year-old man from Mission Viejo, was lying to the side on the spot where paramedics would eventually pronounce him dead.
The driver of the truck, a 71-year-old man from Huntington Beach, stayed at the intersection and spoke to police.
During their investigation, police said they found that the rider did not have a motorcycle-endorsed driver’s license.
Police were hoping to obtain footage from the area, or speak with any witnesses to the crash. Near the intersection stood an auto body shop, a cluster of apartment complexes and a mobile home park.
Authorities urged anyone with information on the collision to contact Accident Investigator A. Turner at 714-536-5670 or D. Kim at 714-536-5666.
