Fiery Irvine crash leaves 1 dead
One person died early Friday when a car smashed into a tree and burst into flames near the UCI campus, authorities said.
Firefighters arrived to the scene, at Harvard Avenue and University Drive, shortly after the approximately 1:47 a.m. crash, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
Crews extinguished the car that was ablaze. One person was declared dead at the scene while another was treated then taken to a hospital. That person’s condition has not been publicly released.
The circumstances of what led to the crash were under investigation.
