by in News

Two juveniles were detained by police, but ultimately released pending further investigation, after they were suspected of leading police on a short pursuit following a drive-by shooting in Santa Ana on Friday night, Dec. 20, authorities said.

Santa Ana officers were on patrol when they witnessed the shooting in the 700 block of South Townsend Street about 8 p.m., Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

No one was reportedly injured as a result of the shooting, Bertagna said.

The suspects led police on a short pursuit following the shooting and fled on foot, but were ultimately found by police in the 2000 block of Myrtle Street after officers set up a perimeter, Bertagna said.

The arrest location was less than a half-mile north from where the shooting occurred.

Police also found the gun, which was dropped near the vehicle as the suspects fled.

The suspects, both minors, were questioned by police but they were released to their parents pending further investigation, Bertagna said.
