Decomposing body of unidentified male found near 91 Freeway in La Palma

The decomposing body of a male was found near the 91 Freeway in La Palma on Saturday morning, authorities said.

Coroner investigators have described the body as that of an unidentified male.

About 10:52 a.m. an individual at an Arco gas station in La Palma made a 911 call today to report the discovery of a decomposing body near an on-ramp to the 91 Freeway near Orangethorpe Avenue, said the California Highway Patrol, which responded to the scene.

A SigAlert was issued at 11:34 a.m. closing the Orangethorpe on-ramp to the eastbound freeway.

Though it was unclear how long the body had been there, its decomposed state made it hard to identify the person, said Investigator Inez Chavez with the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
