17-year-old skateboarder dies days after being struck by car in Fullerton
A 17-year-old skateboarder who was struck by a car in Fullerton last week died of his injuries on Sunday, officials said.
The teen was struck by a car at around 12:40 p.m. on Dec. 31, in the 2400 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue and was knocked off of his skateboard, Fullerton police said earlier. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Days after the crash, Luis Hernandez died of his injuries Sunday afternoon, Orange County coroner’s office spokeswoman B. Beasley said.
The driver of the car, a gray Mercedes sedan, stayed at the scene and was cooperative with police, Fullerton police Lt. Jon Radus said.
