Motorcyclist dies after colliding with pole in Santa Ana

A man operating a motorcycle in Santa Ana died after losing control and slamming into a pole Sunday, Jan. 12.

A witness to the single-vehicle crash on the 1000 block of East First Street, between Standard and Grand Avenues, called 911 to notify authorities at about 11a.m., Santa Ana Police Commander Andrew Alvarez said. Officers responded, and found the sole rider of the motorcycle unresponsive.

The man was taken to OC Global Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, Alvarez said. His identity and further details regarding the crash were not immediately released. The collision was under investigation Sunday evening.
