1 dog dies, 2nd burned, in fire that damages dog house in Westminster
A dog was killed and another rescued and taken to a veterinarian after firefighters extinguished an outdoor fire between two Westminster homes Saturday morning, Jan. 18, authorities said.
Orange County firefighters responded to the 13700 block of Pacific Avenue just before 12:45 p.m. and found a debris fire that included a dog house in a side yard of one of the homes, Capt. Tony Bommarito said.
It took firefighters less than 10 minutes to put out the fire before finding the dog dead in the dog house, Bommarito said.
Firefighters rescued the second dog whose fur was singed by the fire, he said. Animal control immediately took the dog to a local veterinarian for treatment.
It wasn’t immediately known if anyone was home at either of the two homes when the fire broke out, Bommarito said.
Investigators remained on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
