Man charged with stabbing woman to death inside Laguna Niguel home
A Laguna Niguel man was charged Wednesday with killing a woman inside a Laguna Niguel home.
Lee Aguilar, 31, is facing a murder charge, along with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon, in connection to the slaying of Brenda Casillas, according to a criminal complaint.
The complaint also alleges that Aguilar used a box cutter during the fatal attack.
Deputies looking into reports of an unspecified disturbance responded around 8:15 a.m. Monday to a home in the 28000 block of La Pradera.
The deputies found Casillas, 32, who had suffered multiple stab wounds. She was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Aguilar fled before the deputies arrived. He was located nearby a short time later and taken into custody.
Authorities have not specified the relationship, if any, between Aguilar and Casillas or publicly identified a suspected motive for the killing.
The Sheriff’s Department previously indicated it was not looking for any other suspects, and assured residents that there was no lingering cause for concern.
