Anaheim PD: 2 dead after crash; teen expected to be arrested after release from hospital

by in News

Two people died and three were sent to the University of California-Irvine Medical Center on Friday afternoon after a crash in Anaheim.

The crash happened in the intersection of Belinda Circle and Lincoln Avenue just before 2 p.m., according to Anaheim Police Sgt. Shane Carringer. A white Dodge Charger was headed east on Lincoln Avenue, drove through a red light at Belinda Circle and crashed into a Honda Civic that was in the intersection.

The driver and the front passenger in the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene, Carringer said. A passenger in the back seat was transported to the UCI Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police said both the driver and the passenger in the Dodge were transported to the UCI Medical Center with moderate injuries. Both the driver and passenger in the Dodge are 17-year-old boys.

“Drugs and speed appear to be a factor in the crash,” Carringer said.

Carringer said the driver of the Dodge will be arrested after he is released from the hospital. The passenger will not be arrested.
