Bicyclist fatally struck by SUV in Huntington Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH — A bicyclist was struck by an SUV and killed in Huntington Beach and an investigation was underway to determine the cause of the crash.

The accident occurred near Yorktown Avenue and Vasile Circle about 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to Sgt. Eric Warken of the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Officers arrived on scene and found a man in the street, unresponsive. He suffered major internal injuries and was pronounced dead, Warken said.

A silver 2016 Honda Pilot with front end damage was found parked near the crash site and the 46-year-old driver from Huntington Beach stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Warken said. The driver was not injured.

The name of the victim was not immediately disclosed.
