Orange County juvenile facility worker tests positive for coronavirus

An Orange County Probation Department employee assigned to a juvenile facility has tested positive for coronavirus, the first confirmed case of the disease in the department, officials said on Friday.

The employee received the positive results for COVID-19 on Thursday night and is currently quarantined at home and is in stable condition, probation department officials said in a news release.

Officials said the employee last worked on April 3. The department sent out a notifications to all youth, their parents or guardians, and other employees who may have come in contact with the infected staff member.

The department did not disclose which juvenile facility the employee had been assigned to.

To date, there have been no other confirmed cases of the coronavirus among youth or staff members at probation department juvenile facilities, officials said.
