Irvine man arrested on suspicion of kicking puppy down flight of stairs
Police arrested a man Sunday, April 12, on suspicion of repeatedly kicking a puppy, sending her down a flight of stairs at an apartment complex in Irvine.
Mae, a 5-month old French bulldog, suffered multiple broken bones in her legs, Irvine Police said in a news release. She was in the care of a veterinarian and awaiting surgery as of Monday evening.

Ruiang Zhang, 22, shares ownership of the dog with a girlfriend who resides with him at an apartment complex along Bowery, a small street near the 405 Freeway and Jamboree Road in Irvine. A witness allegedly saw Zhang attack the animal, and he was arrested on suspicion of animal abuse-related felonies Sunday morning, police said. The puppy was taken to a veterinarian by officers.
No other animals or humans were injured during the alleged incident.
