Police arrest man suspected in fatal shooting at Anaheim motel
A 39-year-old man was arrested early Friday in connection to a fatal shooting earlier in the month at an Anaheim motel.
Members of the Anaheim Police Department’s SWAT team around 3:30 a.m. took Ysrael Garza into custody in Fullerton, Anaheim Sgt. Shane Carringer said.
Garza was booked into jail on a $1 million dollar murder warrant, the sergeant added. Police previously identified him as the man suspected of killing 51-year-old Todd Megna.
Officers shortly before 7 a.m. on Apr. 14 responded to reports of a shooting at the Anaheim Lodge in the 800 block of Beach Boulevard.
Investigators believe the shooting occurred in the motel’s parking lot, Carringer said.
Police have not outlined a suspected motive for the shooting. Carringer said Garza and Megna are believed to have known each other.
Garza is suspected of having gang ties, the sergeant said, though investigators do not believe the shooting was gang-related.
