A 49-year-old man died Tuesday after he and another man were hit by a pickup truck outside a Home Depot in Costa Mesa, authorities said.

Coroner’s officials on Wednesday identified the victim as Juan Martinez Hernandez.

Costa Mesa police responded to the store, at 2300 Harbor Blvd., just before noon after the two pedestrians had been struck in the parking lot near a lumber area.

Both were taken to a hospital, where Hernandez was pronounced dead.

Details about the second man’s injuries were not disclosed although a city official said they are non-life threatening.

The pickup’s driver cooperated with police. No arrests had been made.
