Shooting at Santa Ana cemetery leaves 1 dead, 1 wounded
Gunfire rang out during a gathering at a cemetery in Santa Ana, leaving one person dead and another wounded Wednesday, June 24.
Several people had been assembled near grave sites at Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary when some sort of disturbance took place and shots were fired, Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. Authorities were notified at about 6:30 p.m., and encountered two gunshot victims when they arrived at the cemetery.

A witness said he was at his apartment preparing for a barbecue when he heard six to eight gunshots coming from the cemetery. The witness said he saw someone shooting, at least one victim on the ground and others fleeing.
One of those wounded appeared to be a man in his 20s or 30s who was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Fire Authority paramedics, Bertagna said. The other victim is male as well, and was taken to a hospital where he was in treatment with at least one wound to his lower body Wednesday evening. His injuries were not considered life threatening.
No arrests were immediately announced, and further details were not immediately released by authorities. Police had detained and interviewed several people at the memorial park, and homicide detectives were conducting an investigation there as of 9 p.m.
