Pedestrian dies in Fountain Valley hit-and-run crash
A pedestrian died on the Fourth of July when she was hit and trapped under a car in Fountain Valley, police said.
It was about 8:11 p.m. when officers were called to the crash site at Euclid Street and Edinger Avenue, Fountain Valley police said.
There they found the unresponsive female under a white, 2012 Mercedes-Benz C250. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity had not been identified as of Sunday night, authorities said.
During the investigation, officers discovered the victim had been hit by another car, which appeared to be a crossover vehicle, before she became stuck under the Mercedez-Benz, police said.
That first vehicle fled the scene. Police were working to identify the vehicle and driver.
Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash with the driver who remained at the scene, police said. Anyone with information who may have witnessed the crash are asked to call Fountain Valley police at 714-593-4481 and reference incident #20-21296.
