Driver of Jeep in fatal hit-and-run in Santa Ana sought by police

by in News

Police sought the driver of a white Jeep Cherokee involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision in Santa Ana Friday, July 17.

Several people called to report a man lying in the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and McFadden Avenue at about 9:25 p.m. Friday, Santa Ana Police Department officials said. Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived and attempted to treat the injured person, but he died before he could be taken to a hospital.

Investigators believe the man who died was standing on the center median of McFadden Avenue near Harbor Boulevard when he was struck by a Jeep. It was traveling west and did not stop after striking the pedestrian, police said. The SUV would likely have sustained front-end damage, Santa Ana Police Cmdr. Manny Moreno said.

Officials had not managed to identify the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash as of Saturday morning. The identity of the victim was not immediately released.

Authorities asked anyone who might have information regarding the crash to contact the Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigation Unit at 714-245-8216.
