Man found dead on rocks near Baby Beach in Dana Point
Authorities are investigating after a man’s body was found lying atop rocks near Baby Beach in Dana Point on Friday, March 8.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department received a call just before 3 p.m. from a passerby who had seen what they believed was a body near a cliff side along the coast in the area of Dana Point Harbor Drive, said Carrie Braun, a spokeswoman for the department.
Deputies arrived and confirmed the body was that of a man who was later pronounced dead at the scene, Braun said.
The body, which lay on a cliff side area was inaccessible to deputies, said Sheriff’s Lt. Jerry Calrsen. An air unit lifted the body to the nearby Baby Beach, where the body was further examined.
Until the coroner determines the cause of death, she said, the sheriff’s department is not viewing the death as suspicious.
“It does not appear at this time to be suspicious,” Braun said. “But it’s an ongoing investigation.”
