Orange County man and one other die in La Jolla hang glider accident

Two hang gliders, including an Orange County man, were killed in a crash near a La Jolla beach Saturday, according to media reports.

San Diego Lifeguards told CBS 8 two men were killed in the accident, which happened about 2:40 p.m. near the Torrey Pines Gliderport and Black’s Beach.

One man, 43, an Orange County resident was getting an advanced certification, while the second man, 61, of San Diego was a more experienced pilot, according to a report from NBC 8. The report said the student, who was traveling south, made a sharp right turn and ran into the other hang glider as he flew north.
