Man suspected of shooting ex-girlfriend in Orange sought, considered armed and dangerous
Police sought a Costa Mesa man considered armed and dangerous and suspected of shooting his former girlfriend with a shotgun in Orange on Wednesday, March 13.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex at 700 E. Lake Dr. at about 6:45 a.m., according to a new release from the Orange Police Department. It said police found one woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds who was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition.
Investigators believe the woman’s ex-boyfriend, Patrick Allen French, 33, of Costa Mesa may have committed the shooting, according to the release.
It said he fled the area in a rented silver Ford Explorer bearing license plate number 8HWE087. He was wanted on suspicion of attempted homicide and considered armed and dangerous. Both he and the vehicle remained at large as of Thursday evening, according to Orange Police Sgt. Phil McMullin.
Police have asked anyone who might encounter French to immediately dial 911. Detectives have also asked anyone with information relevant to their investigation to contact the Orange Police Department at 714-744-7403.
