Man suspected of attempted murder in Costa Mesa shooting identified

The Costa Mesa Police Department identified a man who it said was wanted on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a June 16 shooting that left one person injured.

Police said Luis Antonio Luevano-Guzman was the man who shot and and sent a 23-year-old man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said they believe the shooting stemmed from an argument that started at a bar near the 800 block of West 19th Street.

Two men went across the street from the bar to a parking lot, and that’s when Luevano-Guzman fired several shots, hitting the man and several vehicles and businesses, officials said. Nobody else was injured in the shooting.

Police said Luevano-Guzman is 47-years-old, 5-feet-7-inches tall and 245 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Luevano-Guzman should be considered armed and dangerous, and Costa Mesa police asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to call its dispatch line at 714-754-5252.
