Woman killed, motorist injured in Ortega Highway crash

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — A woman was killed and her driver suffered injuries when their white Toyota sedan crashed Sunday morning into the right side embankment of the Ortega (74) Highway just east of the San Juan Creek Bridge in San Juan Capistrano.

The crash occurred just before 1 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.

A representative from the coroner’s office was called to the location at 1:35 a.m., the CHP said.

The driver was rushed to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where his condition was not known.

A representative from the Orange County Fire Authority could not be reached for comment.
