Arrest made in death of drummer found beaten in Anaheim
Homicide detectives have arrested a suspect in the murder of a Dana Point man found beaten to death in an Anaheim cul-de-sac last weekend.
Police said that Arthur Williams, 34, of Santa Ana, was arrested Wednesday afternoon, July 24, without incident at a local hospital, Anaheim police said Friday, July 26.
He was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder, according to Sgt. Daron Wyatt. He was being held in lieu of $ 1 million bail, jail records show.
On July 20, a passerby in the 1500 block of West Center Street found David McCabe, 48, on the ground just before 3 a.m. and called police. Officers saw that he was dead and had blunt force trauma injuries, Anaheim police said.
“Detectives have confirmed McCabe and Williams were acquaintances, but will not discuss the motive for the crime,” Wyatt said. Police also did not release a booking photograph of Williams, citing the ongoing investigation.
McCabe, who played drums in a band, was recently memorialized at a tribute concert organized by friends and family.
McCabe’s car was stolen after he was killed and has not been found, Wyatt said. It’s described as a gray 2013 Toyota Corolla with four doors. It has California license plates with the number 6YSH330. Anyone who sees it is asked to call police.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS or occrimestoppers.org.
