Driver suspected of DUI crashes into gate entrance of Musick jail near Irvine
Police arrested a 19-year old driver on suspicion of driving under the influence after authorities say she crashed an SUV through the front gate of the James A. Musick jail near Irvine early Monday, July 29.
Sheriff’s authorities said the driver, whose name had not been released, was taken into custody and booked into an Orange County jail shortly after the 3:30 a.m. crash.
A brown Range Rover suffered front-end damage near the guard-shack building of the jail, at 13502 Musick. A metal gate was also bent and knocked to the ground.

“We are grateful no (sheriff’s) personnel were injured in this collision,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.
“While this damage can be fixed, we know that’s not always the case with DUI collisions,” it said. “Losing a loved one or friend is irreparable. Please always designate a driver or coordinate a ride.”
