Fire engine and car collide on border of Buena Park and La Palma

A fire engine responding to a medical call collided with a sedan on the border of Buena Park and La Palma early Monday, Aug. 5.

It was shortly before 1:30 a.m. when Orange County Fire Authority Engine 61 was headed to a Buena Park scene with lights and sirens on, said La Palma police Sgt. Joe Guerrero.

A car collided with the engine at the corner of Orangethorpe Avenue and Valley View Street, on the La Palma side.

“It’s under investigation that the driver (of the car) may have gone through the red light,” Guerrero said.

The uninjured driver was evaluated for signs of impairment but none were immediately detected. No fire personnel were injured.

There was significant damage to the sedan and slight damage to the fire engine, Guerrero said.
