Surveillance video, suspect sketch in Cal State Fullerton fatal stabbing released
Fullerton police on Tuesday released surveillance video showing the suspect who stabbed a Cal State Fullerton administrator to death and fled the campus. They also distributed a composite sketch of the suspect in hopes the public can help identify him.
The video shows the black-clad man in his mid-20s running from the crime scene where Steven Shek Keung Chan, 57, was found dead, Fullerton police said.
On Monday morning, Aug. 19, someone called 911 reporting a man was down and bleeding from the head in parking Lot S of the College Park building. Campus and city police officers responded and found Chan with multiple stab wounds.
Chan died at the scene.
Investigators flocked to the area, accompanied by bloodhounds, to search for the suspect who was last seen running northbound on Langsdorf Drive and then eastbound on Nutwood Avenue. He remains at large.
Detectives Monday had taped off the area in the parking lot where Chan was found and searched the car near where he was located.

There they found a backpack they believe the suspect left behind. Inside it had an “incendiary device” described as a bottle filled with flammable liquid.
It also contained zip ties, a knife, wigs and other disguise materials, police said, which they say could have been used in a kidnapping attempt. The knife found in the backpack was not used in the stabbing.
“Investigators believe that Chan was specifically targeted in this attack,” Fullerton police said in a bulletin released to the public. “Investigators also believe that the suspect was injured during the attack and he may have lacerations to one or both of his hands.”
The surveillance video shows the suspect, described by police as possibly Asian, running through a parking lot in a black cap, black hoodie and black pants. He was seen leaving east of the 57 Freeway in a black four-door sedan with black wheels and dark, tinted windows, which investigators believe is a newer model BMW X6.
Police also released a composite sketch of the suspect.
