Fontana boy dies in 241 Toll Road crash in Orange County

A 7-year-old boy from Fontana died in a two-vehicle collision in unincorporated Orange County on the 241 Toll Road that sent four other people to hospitals on Sunday, Aug. 25.

The crash happened at about 1:36 p.m., Orange County Fire Authority Capt. John Muir said. A black sedan carrying a family of five and a white van occupied only by the driver collided on the toll road near Windy Ridge Road, south of the 91 Freeway and southeast of Anaheim Hills.

A 7-year-old boy was airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Muir said. He was pronounced dead at 2:41 p.m. at Orange County Global Medical Center, County Coroner’s officials said in a news release. Authorities later identified him as Vershad Raggins of Fontana.

The four other people hurt in the collision were transported via ambulance to local trauma centers, Muir said. Details regarding the severity of their injuries and the circumstances leading up to the crash were not immediately released.
