Tustin man gets 40-plus years for gunning down estranged wife in Anaheim
A 52-year-old Tustin man pleaded guilty Friday and was immediately sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for gunning down his estranged wife in Anaheim’s Peralta Canyon Park three years ago.
Humberto Servin of Anaheim pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Servin fatally shot Claudia Espino Garcia of Tustin on May 12, 2016, in the park at 115 N. Pinney Drive.
Officers responding to a report of gunfire at the park found the victim slumped over in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. Witnesses, including several children, gave officers a description of Servin and his vehicle.
About 15 minutes later, officers found Servin’s 2002 gray Dodge Ram truck in the parking lot of the Anaheim Police Department’s East District substation at 8201 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road.
Servin, who drove to the substation to surrender, was taken into custody nearby, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
The victim and Servin had not lived together since 2008, according to prosecutors, who said he arranged to meet in the park with Garcia.
Servin opened the passenger side door and shot the victim, leaving the area when a daughter of theirs ran toward the vehicle, according to prosecutors.
