Suspect in bank robberies, burglaries in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties is caught, charged
A Riverside County resident accused of nine bank robberies or burglaries in three counties has been arrested and charged.
Donovan Dintelman, 47, of Canyon Lake, was charged Friday, Nov. 22, with five counts of robbery and four counts of burglary. He was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
Dintelman was booked into Cois M. Byrd Detention Center in French Valley on Wednesday. Superior Court records say Dintelman has eight aliases, including Frank Oscar Felix.
Riverside County sheriff’s officials said the agency had been investigating a series of robberies, at least some inside grocery stores.
Wednesday, officials said, a suspect attempted to rob a bank in Chino Hills in San Bernardino County.
Investigators got a license plate number from the suspect’s vehicle from surveillance video and traced the plate to the 23000 block of Compass Drive in Canyon Lake.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for Dintelman’s home and vehicles, and he was arrested nearby that evening, authorities said.
Investigators believe that Dintelamn robbed banks in Orange, Chino Hills, Murrieta, Wildomar and Lake Elsinore and burglarized Albertsons, Ralphs and Stater Bros. grocery stores, authorities said.
Court records show Dintelman has convictions for felony evading, receiving a stolen vehicle and burglary.
