Suspicious fire scorches more than a dozen cars at Santa Ana tow yard
A fire at a Santa Ana tow yard Friday night, Nov. 29, scorched about 13 cars and investigators believe the blaze may have been set deliberately.
Orange County firefighters were called to the MetroPro Road Services tow yard at 2550 S. Garnsey Avenue just after 11:30 p.m., OCFA Capt. Tony Bommarito said.
There, firefighters found several vehicles involved in the fire. It wasn’t immediately known how long it took firefighters to put out the blaze, but no injuries were reported.
The tow yard is one of several that contract with the Santa Ana Police Department for towing services, and the company also conducts its own services, Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
While fire investigators have not confirmed arson as the cause, they believe the fire was suspicious in nature and continue to investigate, Bertagna said, adding detectives from the Department will be brought in to work with fire investigators to determine if criminal activity was involved.
Further information was not immediately available.
