Update: Street reopens after package is checked in Brea

Reports of a suspicious package in a residential area of Brea forced some nearby residents to temporarily leave their homes Sunday, Dec. 15.

The item was in the area of Strattford Street and Eden Way, Brea Police said in a tweet posted at 5:12 p.m. Several residences were evacuated and a portion of Strattford was closed as a precaution, police said.

By 6:29 p.m., officers were clearing the scene after finding no explosives, police said in a tweet, adding Strattford was reopened.
