A former Suzuki Motor of America Inc. accountant faces more than seven years in prison after admitting on Friday, Dec. 13 that she embezzled $1.8 million from her Brea-based employer over a five-year period.

Bonnie Mullion, 65, of Yorba Linda, pleaded guilty to 89 felony counts of grand theft by embezzlement, and admitted sentencing enhancement allegations for aggravated white collar crime exceeding $500,000.

Mullion, who is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 28, accepted a plea deal from Orange County Superior Court Judge Scott Steiner. She is expected to be sentenced to seven years and four months in prison.

Mullion embezzled money from Suzuki while working in the accounting department from 2012 through 2017, Brea Police Department Lt. Tim Mercado said.

Mullion was fired in 2017 when the allegations surfaced, Mercado said. She was arrested Oct. 3, 2019, following an extensive investigation.
